Welcome to this weekend’s edition of FT Now - your source all the top news you need to know. First up: Voters in Louisiana go to the polls today in the race to select the state’s next governor. If no candidate gets to 50 percent, the race goes to a run-off. Given the rocky last couple of weeks for the Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards, it’s anyone’s guess how today’s vote will go. In Mississippi, GOP gubernatorial nominee Tate Reeves has released an education plan that relies on ZERO tax hikes. Yes, you read that right. Contrast that with New Jersey Gov. Sexual Harassment Scandal Dominating Louisiana Gov Race |
What Happened: |
Louisiana Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards has been on defense all week after being hit with ads questioning why he hired an alleged sexual harasser to be his deputy chief of staff. |
Why You Should Care: |
One of the aide’s alleged victims - Juanita Washington - says she was harassed for more than a year while she was working for the governor. Now, she’s accusing the Edwwards campaign of distorting what she went through and "attacking" her for coming forward. |

Mississippi GOP Gov Nominee Tate Reeves Says Education Agenda Includes Teacher Pay Raises |
What Happened: |
Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves - who’s currently running for governor - released a four-year education plan this week that includes teacher pay raises. |
Why You Should Care: |
What’s interesting about Reeves’ plan is that he knows how he’s going to pay for it - and it’s not with tax hikes. "I don’t traffic in fase promises of unlimited free money," said Reeves. What a novel idea! |
What Happens Next: |
Reeves is running for governor against Democrat Jim Hood. If Hood is anything like his friends in the national Democratic Party, his plans could very well end up requiring tax increases. |

Democrat NJ Gov. Phil Murphy Continues To Feud With Own Party, Tout High Taxes |
What Happened: |
Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy was recently caught saying that for anyone who doesn’t like high taxes, New Jersey is "probably not your state." Ok… |
Why You Should Care: |
Murphy’s love of taxes is nothing new. In fact, last year alone he proposed hiking taxes on New Jersey families by $1.5 billion. But telling people not to come to New Jersey if they like keeping their hard-earned money seems like an odd strategy. |
What Happens Next: |
No doubt Gov. Murphy will continue on his liberal tax-and-spend crusade. Unfortunately, New Jerseyans will continue to suffer until his leadership. |
