Seattle Democratic Socialists of America

As much as weather is not climate, Saturday's Record June Temperature turned Sunday's All-Time Record temperature to Today's presumptive five degrees higher temperature will be more likely. This decade, odds favorite, will be cooler than the next. We can't shop our way out of a Capitalist system that (technical term here) shits the bed if we don't endlessly consume as this pandemic proved. It's not predicated on our environment's survival, our survival, or anyone's happiness. Ecosocialists with the Green New Deal Committee meet each Sunday at 7 PM.

Compassion Seattle, the anti-unhoused people sweeps measure from Big Business, has amassed over $850k from large donors including $50k from Vulcan. Because that's what the measure is  about. Paid canvassers have been obtaining signatures and misrepresented the program as anything but the same failed strategies. People without housing need housing. Not sweeps. Not a couple pity units at obscene market rates in two years. Not the opportunity to buy single-family housing for $1m. To hell with that. The House Our Neighbor coalition has shared instructions on how to de-signature, if you accidentally signed Compassion Seattle. Removing your name now matters as the signatures are counting.

Lastly, you can volunteer for the three campaigns Seattle DSA has endorsed (in-person events were cancelled due to heat): Nikkita Oliver for Seattle City Council District 9, Kshama Sawant Solidarity Campaign, and the Stephanie Gallardo for Congress (District 9) campaigns.
