This week for the "Get to Know Northwest Georgia" series, we’re highlighting Dade County! More recently, the Dade County Justice Building, a block west of the old courthouse, was completed in 1989. The largest county government facility is the Dade County Administrative Building adjacent to the justice building, constructed in 2000 to 2001. Today, the courthouse still stands in the center of our community with grants in place to help us revitalize this piece of our history and help keep it functional for generations to come. Since then, the College has significantly developed the campus and cultivated important ties with the Chattanooga community." The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton's Gulch Creek, and elevation ranges from 800 to 1,980 feet." Explore Caves: "Dade County is at the center of one of the world's most exciting regions for caving. Spectacular caves in this area contribute to the reputation of the area where Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia meet (known to the caving community as the "TAG" region." Hang Gliding: "Lookout Mountain Flight Park is the largest and most popular full time hang gliding school and resort in the United States. Each year, the school teaches, certifies and solos five times as many pilots as any other school." New Salem Mountain Festival: "The New Salem Mountain Festival, born out of the potential for a grand celebration of human talents amidst nature's splendor, is the second Saturday and Sunday every October (October 9-10).
