Hi John, I’m Kiana.
I’m the International Outreach Coordinator with the International Student Environmental Coalition, or ISEC — one of the 98 members of the Power Shift Network. We’re an all-volunteer global group of youth activists organizing for climate justice across 32 countries.
As Power Shift Network members, youth-led grassroots groups like ISEC gain access to so many incredible resources: platforms to share our work and tell our stories; trainings and education to help strengthen our organizing; and connections with a huge, vibrant community of young climate leaders all over the world.
As a Power Shift Network member, I’ve seen firsthand how much PSN is doing to strengthen youth climate leadership at this critical moment. That’s why I’m asking you to give monthly to sustain this movement today.
ISEC’s volunteer leaders include young folks from Uganda, Indonesia, Cameroon, and dozens of countries across the Global South — people whose communities are on the global frontlines of the climate crisis and many times still ignored. Climate change is so vast, so enormous, and so devastating. But being part of Power Shift Network has helped me and the other volunteer leaders at ISEC feel like we’re part of a movement that’s big enough to take on the climate crisis and build the brighter future we need.
And this spring, I joined the small team that organized Power Shift 2021 — a virtual convergence that brought together more than 1,600 young leaders from around the world to learn, connect, and get trained in organizing skills. At the convergence, I moderated a panel with other ISEC leaders about building solidarity with young activists in the Global South. It felt incredible to share our work with so many people. And afterward, I can’t tell you how many folks reached out to us to say how inspired they were, or to ask how to get involved.
To take on the climate crisis, we need a movement. And that’s exactly what Power Shift Network is building: a bold, worldwide movement of young leaders fighting for the world we need. Can you make a monthly gift to support that movement today?
In solidarity,
Kiana
