Today is a monumental day for many: National Coming Out Day.
It's a day to celebrate the deeply personal decision to come out, but also a time to raise awareness of the struggles and battles our LGBTQ+ friends and family have faced -- and are still facing today.
One of my first acts as governor was to expand protections for our LGBTQ+ workers. We have made great strides in expanding protections and civil rights to members of the LGBTQ+ community.
But we still have more work to do. As your governor, I remain committed to protecting every person who calls Kansas home.
I am proud to support those who have made the decision to come out and remind those who are struggling: You belong in our communities, you deserve to be accepted, and you deserve to be supported. This day is for all of you.
