Dear Friend,

As the struggle for liberation continues in Palestine and Kashmir, and
as demonstrations against neoliberal policies rage on in Colombia, it is
important mainstream racial justice narratives in the United States
articulate solidarity with and connect with movements on a global scale.
To achieve this, it is crucial to understand the concept of "American
exceptionalism", which places the United States in the position of
"greatest nation on earth." The effect is the erasing of stolen land,
labor, and lives. The larger question is: can decolonization,
reparations, and national pride coexist?

Please join us on July 14th for the newest installment of our #RaceAnd
The Movement Forward series: #RaceAnd: United States Exceptionalism

will be a virtual online presentation that will help attendees develop
their understanding of the tools needed to build solidarity with global
movements using anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism framing in our
racial justice analysis. Other questions we'll explore include:

Why the United States is discussed as a model country, while sharing
similarities to other nations in a global context

Examining the idea of "the land of the free'', while former slave owners
continue to exist on our currency

The outrage generated during the previous presidential administration
when "America was never great" was used to combat racist narratives
