Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 18 | June 20th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear John, This week we learned some pretty disturbing news about members of the Assembly's impeachment committee. Assemblymembers Monica Wallace and Karen McMahon sat down for a secret wine and dine steak dinner with Andrew Cuomo at the Governor's Mansion. Imagine if a Prosecutor or District Attorney was investigating a murder and went to the scene of the crime to have dinner with the lead suspect?? There is no excuse for such a blatant ethical breach and both Assemblymembers Wallace and McMahon should recuse themselves from the committee. Also in Albany this week, our crooked Governor Cuomo continued his self-proclamation as the hero with firework displays across the state. These celebrations--paid for by taxpayers and announced with just hours notice on a weeknight were not for the people, they were all part of his elaborate operation to distract from his numerous scandals and investigations. If the idea of this governor who killed over 15,000 seniors in nursing homes and then tried to cover it up congratulating himself with fireworks doesn't make your skin crawl then I don't know what would. Lastly, the New York State Bar Association task force announced that it had found through their investigation that Cuomo's executive order DID cause more deaths and should have been reversed sooner. It is embarrassing that the Bar Association, which has a fraction of staff and resources, can complete its investigation faster than our legislature. Republicans will not relent in the search for truth and justice, and we will continue to remind everyone of the crimes of this corrupt Governor until the day that he is either impeached by the legislature or thrown out of office by the voters. We value all of your feedback and questions! Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! Langworthy said specifically two legislators, Karen McMahon and Monica Wallace, who are both on the Assembly Judiciary Committee investigating numerous allegation against Cuomo, should not have attended. "You took an oath to be a part of this committee to investigate this governor's crimes and you're sitting there dining with him and discussing pork for your district," he said. "It's reprehensible." The party boss said McMahon and Wallace should immediately step down from the committee. He said both lawmakers are lawyers and should know when to recuse themselves from cases. "This is an outrageous breach of ethical conduct and a blatant conflict of interest," he said. "There's no other way to slice it." Read Full Here Cuomo’s fireworks celebrated him, not NYers beating COVID: GOP chief New York Post Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s triumphant lifting of the state’s coronavirus restrictions — and the ensuing fireworks across the state — were part of a cynical ploy to burnish his image amid a damaging series of scandals, the head of the state Republican Party charged Thursday. “This is not Andrew Cuomo’s moment to celebrate,” GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy told The Post. “This is a time that we should celebrate modern medicine, the people who worked on the front lines every day and the people who put their own lives in harm’s way.” Langworthy even said he preferred the way Mayor Bill de Blasio — like Cuomo, a Democrat — chose to mark New York reaching the milestone of a 70 percent vaccination rate against COVID-19. “I’ve got to give Bill de Blasio credit, he scheduled a ticker-tape parade and I think that’s a good way to celebrate front-line workers,” he said during a phone interview. “But to have three hours’ notice for fireworks? It’s a way for Cuomo to celebrate himself and get media reports to celebrate the administration.” Read Full Here Cuomo's Emergency Powers Outlasting COVID Emergency WAMC State Republican Party Chair Nick Langworthy held a news conference outside the Capitol Thursday, which remains closed to the public but will re-open Friday. “He can’t cancel every restriction and then still hold on to this power,” Langworthy said. “That’s just not fair.” Langworthy also criticized Cuomo’s celebration on Tuesday in light of the over 40,000 New Yorkers who died of the coronavirus, including 15,000 at nursing homes and other adult long term care facilities. Langworthy says those deaths and the grieving friends and relatives, were not acknowledged. He also says it’s inappropriate for the governor to hold a victory rally when Cuomo is facing several scandals, including whether he improperly used staff to help him write a memoir for which he was paid $5 million dollars. “And he's celebrating with fireworks. If that doesn't make your skin crawl, I don't know what you are made of,” said Langworthy. “Andrew Cuomo is a Machiavellian, and he's as calculating as they come. Putin must be watching this and taking notes right now.” Read Full Here N.Y.S. GOP Chair criticizes two assembly members for attending dinner at governor's mansion WKBW "Why wouldn’t they insist on having a business meeting at their office?,” questioned New York State Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy. Langworthy criticized Democratic Western New York Assembly Members Monica Wallace and Karen McMahon’s decision to have dinner with governor Andrew Cuomo at the executive mansion earlier this month. Both sit on the Assembly Judiciary Committee which is tasked with handling Cuomo’s impeachment investigation over how he handled COVID-19 nursing home deaths at the peak of the pandemic. “They sat there and had a lovely evening with the governor someone they are supposed to be investigating right now,” said Langworthy. Read Full Here Cuomo’s Inner Circle Raised Money for Aide Who Was Convicted of Bribery New York Times After one of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s most trusted aides and closest friends, Joseph Percoco, was convicted of soliciting and accepting more than $300,000 in bribes from executives with business before the state, the governor quickly distanced himself. There would be “no tolerance” for corruption, he said, calling Mr. Percoco’s behavior the opposite of everything he hoped his administration represented. “The rule of law is paramount,” Mr. Cuomo said in 2018, when Mr. Percoco was sentenced to prison a few months later. “Joe Percoco is paying the price for violating the public trust.” Privately, however, members of the governor’s inner circle — including one of his sisters — have for years been quietly raising money for Mr. Percoco, according to interviews and newly obtained emails. Read Full Here Cuomo nursing home order did cause more deaths, should’ve been reversed sooner: task force New York Post The controversial directive for New York nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients increased the death toll among residents — and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s claims otherwise have been disproven, according to a New York State Bar Association report exclusively obtained by The Post. The 242-page report by the NYSBA’s Task Force on Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care also blasts Cuomo for not reversing the Department of Health’s “unreasonable” mandate sooner than he did, saying it remained in effect weeks longer than necessary. “Although a determination of the number of additional nursing home deaths is beyond the capacity of the Task Force, there are credible reviews that suggest that the directive, for the approximately six weeks that it was in effect, did lead to some number of additional deaths,” the report says.
