Happy Pride Month, John!

There will be Pride celebrations across the country this month where people can come together to celebrate their authentic selves and uplift the LGBTQ+ community -- whether that means being gay, bisexual, nonbinary, transgender or any other personal identity. Pride events help to provide safe spaces for queer people that they did not have not too long ago.

But that’s not to say that LGBTQ+ people are protected by every inch of this country either. The LGBTQ+ community still faces attacks (mostly from the far-right) on their basic human rights. The fight for true equality is far from over.

While various laws have been put in place in certain states, there is currently no federal law protecting Americans from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity -- which leaves our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors vulnerable to discrimination in areas like housing, education, healthcare, federal funding, public spaces, and so much more. 

That's exactly why we urgently need to call on Congress to pass The Equality Act, a comprehensive piece of LGBTQ+ legislation that is long overdue. It has already passed the House, and now, we must show strong public support to demand that the Senate take immediate action in passing this important bill.

We need at least 6,822 more signatures to gain enough national attention and have an impact in pushing this critical LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination bill forward.
