Happy Pride Month John!

As a reproductive justice organization, we recognize that LGBTQ+ equality is essential to our fight for liberation. It is more important than ever that we center our human right to bodily autonomy and ability to live our lives free from violence and discrimination. While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has cancelled or postponed Pride events in some cities, there are many ways you can protest from home.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for June:

  1. Create a weekly breakfast menu of meals paired with drinks! Amplify the effect by listening to an audiobook, podcast, or your favorite tunes as you create and savor life at the start of your day. -Eva, senior outreach producer based in Columbia, Missouri
  2. Try something new! I've been getting myself a new snack or drink to try each week to try to mix things up! It's nice to have something different to look forward to while also encouraging myself to drink way less caffeine! This week is a pomegranate white tea from Trader Joe's and fruit and cream popsicle! 😎. -Kara, senior research analyst based in Arlington, Virginia
  3. Set (and keep) boundaries. I haven't had child care on a workday since March 12, 2020. Those first few months were horrible, and I realized I can no longer accommodate more than two meetings per day. Strictly enforcing the boundary can get awkward but has been critical as I navigate working and supporting a small child with virtual learning at the same time. -Erin, executive director based in Washington, DC

See you next month!

In Solidarity,

Erin, Shireen, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Evonnia, Jessica, Kara, Nataley, Tenaja, Agatha, Omar, and the Reproaction team
