John -- YES, Congress should legalize marijuana. Simply put, this is a criminal justice issue.

Communities of color are disproportionally arrested and jailed for marijuana-related crimes. Even though studies show all demographics have similar rates of marijuana usage in the United States, black men make up the majority of incarcerated folks serving long or even life sentences for marijuana-related convictions.

Our criminal justice system is deeply unjust and in dire need of reform. And legalizing marijuana would be a critical first step toward reducing the disparities that currently exist within the system.

It's time to legalize marijuana. John, can you add your name to this petition to ask Congress to take action?

As mayor of Clarkston, Ted has successfully overseen the implementation of a bold, progressive agenda - including the decriminalization of simple marijuana possession. He knows that for our communities to thrive, our justice system needs to work fairly for all.

Thanks for taking action,

-- Team Ted
