Friend,

Charlie Baker knew what he was doing when he hired a totally unqualified candidate for the top job at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home: locking up political support.

Baker handpicked this applicant because of his family’s political connections, knowing that his actions could have serious consequences. Then, when COVID-19 hit, 76 veterans died at the home because of poor management.

That’s why the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) has launched a website and ad demanding Baker take responsibility for the tragedy at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home:

Baker claimed he had no role in hiring and oversight at the facility--flat out lying to the press, to advocates, and to the families of those lost. Baker personally interviewed and swore in the superintendent, and top administration officials were directly involved in supervising what was happening at the home.

When he was caught in a lie, all he had to say was "I forgot." So we released another ad, doubling down on our calls for Baker to come clean and take responsibility for what happened at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home.

It’s past time Baker takes responsibility.
