I know I’m reaching out to you a bit earlier in the month than usual, but I was looking at our quarterly numbers ahead of this month’s FEC filing deadline and noticed some gaps we’ll need to make up.

After a strong spring on the fundraising front, our numbers appear to be headed toward a summer slump. If we don’t reverse this trend, we’ll very likely miss our end-of-quarter goal, which is approaching at the end of June.

I’m counting on this team to help us get back on track, which is why we’re starting a mid-month fundraising drive to help us make up for the summer slump. Can you chip in to help us make up ground?

John, I get it. As folks get vaccinated and are able to enjoy the weather seeing friends and family again, it’s natural that fewer people will be checking their inboxes in these summer months.

But I can’t help but think about one date circled on my calendar: November 8, 2022. Election Day for the midterms, when we’ll have to defend both Democratic Senate and House majorities from a Republican Party eager to roll back our progress.

That’s why goals like this one matter — especially ahead of FEC filing deadlines where Republican opposition and dark-money groups will be scouring for weaknesses.
