In March, I wrote you an email about the need to keep and expand our majority in the U.S. Senate by making sure Tammy Duckworth is re-elected next year.

Here’s the reason: Our margin for error is simply too thin. The American Rescue Plan passed by a single vote. And key Democratic -- and American -- priorities like infrastructure and expanding voting rights are harder than they ought to be to get through.

If we don’t hold our Democratic seats in 2022, Mitch McConnell will do to our party and President Biden exactly what he did throughout President Obama’s administration -- block, obstruct, and repeal until we lose the ability to enact any of the things the American people care about.

That’s why, today, I’m writing to ask you to make another donation of whatever you can afford to support my friend, Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, in her re-election campaign.

Tammy’s a soldier, a senator, and a mother. She brings an incredible amount of experience and a unique perspective to the halls of Congress. We need to keep her voice in the Senate to fight for our shared priorities. But national Republicans are targeting her race -- and Republicans have held statewide office in Illinois as recently as 2018, so it’s not out of the question that they could succeed in their efforts to unseat her.
