Dear John,
The 2021 legislative session came to a close this week and what an embarrassment it was. Despite ample evidence detailing the horrors of Cuomo's incompetence, mismanagement, and corruption, Democrat lawmakers not only failed to bring forward articles of impeachment but also allowed his emergency powers to continue indefinitely. Meanwhile, they were busy ramming through their most radical agenda yet. They enacted the most expensive budget in New York's history, raised taxes by $4 billion, gave a $2 billion slush fund to illegal immigrants, and continued to dismantle our criminal justice system with their pro-criminal "reforms."
Democrats have proven to be utterly incapable of representing the taxpayers of this state. They have ignored crime victims, dishonored dead seniors, turned their backs on those Cuomo abused, and destroyed the livelihoods of small business owners. This year has proven one thing without a shadow of a doubt: New York is in desperate need of new leaders who will restore commonsense to our state.
In national news, Kamala Harris still refuses to visit the border and continues to laugh off the serious humanitarian, public health, and security crisis that has resulted from their open border policies. Illegal border crossings have reached a 20-year high and the Biden-Harris Administration has no plan to do anything about it.
Republicans in Congress, including our strong New York delegation, are working hard to stop Biden's reckless spending plan and to enact a more responsible, infrastructure-driven proposal rather than a liberal wish list of pork that will bankrupt our country. Stay tuned for more details this week on their efforts to deliver a bipartisan solution that protects taxpayers.
The Republican Party is more energized than ever to break up the one-Party rule that is destroying our nation and our state. We will not rest until Cuomo is held accountable and his victims get justice. We are laser-focused on our mission of returning sanity and integrity to the state of New York. But we can't do it without your help!
We value all of your feedback and questions!
Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter!

Question from Last Week:
From Kaitlyn: Did the legislature pass those terrible "parole reform" bills? Can we do anything to stop them?
Answer: Thank you for the question, Kaitlyn. It wasn't enough to eliminate bail or tie the hands of police, Democrats in Albany were determined to dismantle our criminal justice system even further with these so-called reforms. One of the more dangerous new laws they passed is the "Less is More Act," which allows criminals who have violated their parole to be given desk appearance tickets instead of being taken into custody. They also attempted to pass the "Clean Slate Bill" that would wipe the records of criminals after they've been released from prison. Think about the consequences of that: employers would not know who they are hiring, landlords would not know who they are renting to...all New Yorkers, including our most vulnerable citizens like seniors, children and the disabled requiring professional care, would be put at risk from this reckless proposal. The only reason it did not pass was due to a technical glitch and Democrats have every intention of coming back to Albany to pass it.
If you want to stop these policies, we have to change who we elect. Law and Order is on the ballot. Help us spread the word that the Republican Party stands for safety and security!

Federal prosecutors have subpoenaed material related to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s recent memoir as part of their probe into Covid-19 deaths in the state’s nursing homes, people familiar with the matter said. Prosecutors working for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn asked for communications related to Mr. Cuomo’s October 2020 book, “American Crisis,” including contracts and materials used to pitch the book to publishers, the people said. They said the subpoenas indicated prosecutors are interested in nursing-home issues in the book, which more broadly recounted the governor’s response to the pandemic. The demands were included in subpoenas sent last month to individuals who were involved in editing early versions of the book, the people said, including state officials.

Republican State Senate and Assembly members say New York is in a state of chaos. The GOP members continue to push to revoke Gov. Cuomo’s executive powers. They met again Monday afternoon. They also say it's time to end the state of emergency in the state, which Gov. Cuomo declared when the pandemic hit. Republican Senate leader Rob Ortt says it would be unconscionable if Democrats don't lift the public health emergency before the end of session, scheduled for June 10.

Lobbyists and other deep-pocketed donors are being squeezed by Democrats in the state Senate to buy tickets for as much as $25,000 each for a virtual reception with top lawmakers — who are in the final days of considering legislation before adjourning for the summer, The Post has learned. The urgent invite to the June 23 event led critics to slam the move on Tuesday as the equivalent of a threat to hold bills hostage — including one that if enacted would grant tenure to unionized teachers and principals who didn’t undergo annual reviews due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A person with direct knowledge of the internal discussions said that Cuomo's public persona — at a time when he was privately writing a book about his handling of the pandemic and still being discussed as a potential presidential candidate — was the Executive Chamber's "primary concern ... always." Another person familiar with the matter said the administration also complained to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that numerous other states, including Florida, were apparently not reporting presumed COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes; the data discrepancies made it appear New York had a higher number of fatalities in nursing facilities than dozens of other states.

In the event of an impeachment trial of Cuomo, members of the New York State Court of Appeals would act as jurors. “Nobody gets to handpick their own jurors, and our scandal-scarred governor should certainly not be one of them,” said Serino on Capital Tonight.
Serino’s bills, S7216; S7217; and S7218, respectively, would do the following:
- Prohibit a governor from making appointments to the court of appeals when he or she is subject to an impeachment investigation
- Prohibit any judge on the court of appeals appointed by the sitting governor from acting as a member of the court for the trial of impeachments against the governor
- Require court of appeals judges who were appointed by a governor under impeachment to recuse themselves.
“These very judges who the governor is appointing could be the very judges that preside over his trial,” Serino said. “This is nothing about the judges’ qualifications; it’s everything about a governor who is under investigation picking the people who might preside over his own trial.”
