Earlier this week, we learned who our Democratic nominees for statewide office in Virginia will be this November.

Terry McAuliffe will lead the ticket as the nominee for Governor.

Hala Ayala is our nominee for Lieutenant Governor.

And Mark Herring stands for re-election to his third term as Attorney General.

I’m so proud to endorse each of these exceptional candidates. And I’ll do everything in my power to make sure they win and Virginia’s progress continues.

But with national Republican money flowing into our Commonwealth to defeat them, we need everyone to help out in every way possible. Can you chip in $20 or more to support our Democratic nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General? 

Each of our nominees bring a unique background, perspective, and set of experiences to the offices they seek.  

Terry McAuliffe has been my friend for decades. His record as Governor of Virginia from 2014-2018 speaks for itself. Now, he’s running to make sure our Commonwealth comes back from COVID-19 stronger than ever, to protect Virginia’s progress as an inclusive home for all, and to get weapons of war off our streets while making historic investments in our schools.  

(And his opponent -- a Trump-endorsed private equity executive-turned culture warrior named Glenn Youngkin -- has promised to spend millions of dollars of his own money to win back the Governorship for Republicans. We can’t let that happen.)

Hala Ayala is a true public servant. As a Virginia Delegate, she made good on her promise to expand Medicaid for 400,000 Virginians, raised teacher pay, fought for LGBTQ equality, and expanded background checks to keep guns out of dangerous hands. ​ 

She’s a lifelong Virginian who understands where we’ve come from and embodies the diversity of our future. If elected, she’d be the first woman Lieutenant Governor and the first woman of color statewide office holder in Virginia’s history!

After notable service in local government and the Virginia Senate, Mark Herring has been a successful two term Attorney General. I first met him more than 30 years ago when he was a law student in my legal ethics class! He’s been the leading voice for criminal justice reform in our Commonwealth -- including the decriminalization of cannabis, reforming cash bail, and fighting for accountability in policing and use of force. ​ 

I’m so proud to support our Democratic slate of candidates. And I hope you’ll join me by donating whatever you can afford to keep Virginia safe, strong, and prosperous.
