One more week to register for our conference Transforming Philanthropy!
Our virtual Transforming Philanthropy conference is happening in about 2 weeks -- over June 25th and 26th! Register now to secure your spot! This conference happens every other year so won’t come around again til 2023. Condensed into 2 days, this powerful programming will leave you with new connections, deeper questions and some concrete actions to take to align your wealth with your values.
Registration closes on Friday the 18th.

What to expect at Transforming Philanthropy: We’ll start this intimate conference together with a presentation on the little known history of philanthropy before breaking up into small groups to discuss our own family stories. Both days there will be two incredible workshops to choose from, one Friday we’ll decide between Best Donor & Grant Practices & Redistributing Decision Making Power. In this session we will dive into the practices and principles of social justice philanthropy and grantmaking through storytelling. We’ll discuss your power and privilege as wealth and resource holders, and ways in which you can share and redistribute that power. And the other workshop will be on Redistribution As Part of a Healing Journey. In this body centered session we’ll explore our interconnectedness, our felt sense of enough and how we might begin to transform our generational legacies. Friday will end with an optional Games and Social Time.
On Saturday, we’ll start the day in workshops choosing from Solidarity Economy Investing. In this session we’ll talk about investing in the Solidarity Economy and how to support emergent investment infrastructure that is building real alternatives to capitalism. Or attending Organizing Family through a Trauma Informed Lens. This workshop is for participants asking the question: How can I influence my wealthy family to give in alignment with social justice principles without feeling overly triggered, angry, or alone? Then we’ll learn from a panel on Social Justice Philanthropy and Redistribution with seasoned organizers sharing about what’s needed from young donors in these times and RG members sharing their stories of bold action and giving. Lastly, we’ll go back into our small groups to begin grappling with our giving plans and big questions before closing out our time together.
Transforming Philanthropy is a conference for young people (18-35) who are high net wealth (have access to $1M in liquidable assets) and/or who participate in–or want to participate in their families’ philanthropy. Transforming Philanthropy may also be an appropriate space for some people who are not high net wealth but are moving large amounts to social justice movements. Registration rates go towards paying presenters. cost of the platform and staff time. Rates are $500 for RG Members, $600 for Non-Members, $400 for Leadership/Non-Wealthy Partner/Student Registration. If you have questions about if this conference is right for you or if you would like to attend but are not able to afford these rates please email [email protected]

Help us find our next Director of Organizing!

Resource Generation (RG) is recruiting for a Director of Organizing to lead our 13-person Organizing Team. Applications are due June 30th - check out more info here!
The Director of Organizing is a key organizational thought leader on how RG’s organizing fits into the bigger movement landscape of multi-class, multi-racial organizing for racial and economic justice. The Director of Organizing’s success will be measured by the strength of our overall organizing: growth in our base, actions taken with partners, money moved, and campaign victories that are aligned with our 40-year campaign vision.
The ideal candidate is a passionate community organizer, is a strong and collaborative team leader and manager, is able to build trusting relationships across race and class, has project management skills with a remote team, and is committed to our mission of the transformative organizing of a multi-racial base of young people with access to wealth and class privilege to move resources to social justice movements and participate in campaigns for systemic change. Story-telling workshop on Friday, June 18th!
Come celebrate the end of the Spring Redistribution Pledge and Membership Drive by hearing and telling the tales of powerful money-moves made during the past months on Friday, June 18th - register here!

On Friday, June 18th from 6-7:30pm ET/3-4:30pm hear about story-telling about wealth redistribution from members who are close to full redistribution of inherited wealth, members working to start the journey, and members somewhere in between. We believe that stories are seeds - individual redistribution moments can turn into collective action and structural change. In this interactive workshop we will discuss how stories can be organizing tools, explore the Redistribution Story Library, plus we’ll get to practice telling our own Redistribution Stories.
