The DCYRs have a goal of raising $500 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the leader in the fight against suicide. AFSP funds research, offers educational programs, advocates for public policy, and provides support to those affected by suicide.

As the world recovers from the COVID pandemic, mental health is more important now than ever. 47,511 Americans died by suicide in 2019, with an estimated 1,380,000 suicide attempts. This year, these numbers are projected to increase. Suicide prevention starts with everyday heroes like us. That's why we are asking you to join the DCYRs in our national service project to help work #TogetherToFightSuicide by making a donation and supporting us in the Washington DC Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention ([link removed]) .
