DIVEST SPD RALLY "NO CHARITY FOR COPS!" - Wednesday, June 9 at 4 PM at Westlake Park. The Seattle Foundation has contributed $870,000 to the Seattle Police Foundation in the past 20 years through community grants and donor-advised funds. Since August, Divest SPD has been pushing for them to divest from police, make amends for the harm done, and invest more in the community. This Wednesday, June 9, we’re holding a rally to show them that there’s a growing number of people watching them that agree there should be NO CHARITY FOR COPS! This is a critical moment in our campaign and we’re counting on you to be there and invite folks you know to this event! Speakers: Stephanie Gallardo, Andrew Grant Houston, Kaileah Baldwin, and Wes, a Drag performance by Issa Mann, and more… Learn more here. Let's break the ties between police and business!

Are you in a union? As a union member you have an important voice in today’s MLK Labor endorsement interview of Nikkita Oliver (they/them) for Seattle City Council. Can you join us virtually at the interview from 10-11:20am today, Monday, June 7th on Zoom? With your support we can vote-down attempts to dual-endorse Nikkita along with other so-called “progressive” candidates that refuse to commit to a 50% defund (or any specific dollar amount for that matter) of the Seattle Police Department among other stark differences between the candidates in this city council race.

Horrified at how Israel is treating Palestinians? Let's hit where it hurts apartheid states. Next Sunday, June 13 at 2 PM outside the QFC on Broadway and Pike is an informational picket and rally. Seattle DSA Members are standing in solidarity with Palestine and boycotts of companies complicit in Israeli apartheid at the store. Let's educate and agitate fellow workers to join in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

Finally, Seattle DSA is looking for 2 new member orientation coordinators to help us put on orientations for new DSA members! The work involves a couple of hours/month spent scheduling orientations, coordinating/connecting facilitators and WG/caucus representatives, and reporting back to Member Engagement Team in our monthly team meetings! If you’re interested, please reach out to @nick d (he/him) or @Sanjin (he/him) on Slack!
