John --
The LGBTQ+ community is under attack. Rights are being ignored and even eroded before our eyes. Every human being has the right to live and flourish with equal protection under the law.
Two cases are set to appear before the Supreme Court centered around the arguments regarding whether individuals can be fired for their gender identity or sexual orientation.
The rights of LGBTQ+ community are threatened, but these laws put the rights of all Americans at risk. Not only do these cases highlight the need for Fairness laws to protect the rights of the LGBTQ communities to work and live where they please, they open the door to sexual descrimination in a myriad of forms.
Although 22 states have passed Fairness laws to protect against descrimination for sexual orientation and 21 have passed laws to protect against descrimination based on gender, no Federal laws have been passed that specifically protect a group that are far too often marginalized and discriminated against.
Our Representatives and our country must send a message that all people belong. They belong in our schools, in our communities, on our sports teams, in our workplaces and in our military. They belong EVERYWHERE!
No person should fear refusal for housing or loss of job because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It really is as simple as that!
It’s time our lawmakers took a stand to pass federal worker rights, housing and healthcare protections for the LGBTQ+ community NOW! Contribute today to help us seat a Congress of representatives that will stand up for the rights of ALL Americans.
