The Texas Tribune: Texas Democrats abandon House floor, blocking passage of voting bill before final deadline
Friend, it's time for moderate Senators like Joe Manchin to show the kind of backbone that the Texas Demoratic Caucus showed this week. Unlike Manchin, Texas Democrats know that the GOP has no interest in bipartisanship or working across the aisle to deliver results for their constituents. Their only goal is to undo democracy in any way they can to further their far-right agenda.
Texas Democrats know that bold action is needed to meet this unprecedented moment, now it's time for Joe Manchin to come to that realization too. We hoped Manchin would realize just how extreme his Senate GOP colleagues have become after they filibustered the BIPARTISAN January 6 commission last week, but even that hasn't shaken him. That's why we're sending Joe Manchin a wake up call directly from our grassroots network, telling him to take action on the filibuster.

Abbott will call a special session to force another vote, and he's even threatening to defund the state legislature. Now is the time for Joe Manchin to act. To end the filibuster, pass the For the People Act, and ensure that Greg Abbott and the rest of the GOP are prevented from passing their extreme, anti-democracy measures.
