Team,
Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, when we remember the lives lost to gun violence in America. This is a public health crisis that we need to address, and we’ve been waiting too long for action.
With Democrats in control of the House, we’ve passed bills to expand background checks and close the “Charleston Loophole.” But Republicans in the Senate continue to block any substantial legislation that could save thousands of lives every year.
It’s a travesty that Republicans haven’t helped pass gun violence prevention legislation. Will you sign on today to demand that Congress take action?
Gun deaths are rising, with over 200 mass shootings already in 2021. We can’t keep allowing this to happen – we need national legislation now.
I’ve been in this fight for a long time. I was a founding member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, introduced legislation to ban assault weapons, and am a member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. I’ve stood up to the NRA, and I’m not going anywhere – not when so many lives are at stake.
Team, if you’re with me, sign our petition to demand that Congress take real action to prevent gun violence in America and honor those who have lost their lives to this epidemic.
My heart is with all the victims of gun violence and their families today. Let’s fight for progress in their names.
– David
