Small businesses are the backbone of our nation, and that's especially true for Colorado's Sixth District. From the innovative chefs at the Mango House food hall to the one-of-a-kind Cheluna brewing microbrews, our local businesses are a big part of what makes our community such a special place to live.

But whether it be unequal access to capital, loan denial, or sky-high interest rates, small business ownership isn't accessible to everyone. Women, low-income, and people of color face serious structural barriers in the process to get their businesses off the ground. And minority-owned businesses were hit the hardest by COVID-19.

We build back better by expanding entrepreneurship opportunities to folks in underserved areas and providing tools for long-term success. As Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development, I'm taking action.

I'm working to maximize Small Business Administration (SBA) resources and establish the Next Generation Entrepreneur Corps. We revitalize Main Street by using free and low-cost services that already exist and creating more opportunities for start-up money, mentorship, and private partnerships.

Our economy is at its best when there is diversity in business ownership, but the road to a country where everyone can pursue their passion is long. Building an inclusive economy requires your support, friend.
