It's the filibuster or our democracy.

Jamaal couldn't have said it better. We either abolish the filibuster and
start getting things done for our communities, or we keep the filibuster
and sacrifice our democracy along with all the progress we've made.

real, transformative legislation right now — but there are a few Democrats
in the Senate that remain staunchly opposed to ending the filibuster. We

As a reminder,
John, the filibuster is the
Senate procedure that requires 60 votes to advance most bills. This means
that even if Democrats have 51 votes in the Senate, a majority in the
House, and the presidency, Senate Republicans in the minority can — and
will — block us from passing legislation to help the American people.

This is the first time the Democratic party has held a majority in both
chambers of Congress and the White House in over a decade. If the sole
reason we can't pass our progressive agenda and get stuff done is "the
Republicans wouldn't let us" — there's no doubt that it'll be an even
tougher re-election for Democrats in the 2022 midterms next year.

show the American people what the government can do for them, and we must
continue to raise our voices and demand a change from the Senate Democrats
