Hi team,

Our team at The Fairness Project runs ballot initiative campaigns to win real change directly at the ballot box when out-of-touch politicians refuse to act.

But now, those same out-of-touch politicians are trying to take away democratic ballot initiatives precisely because they work to win real change.

The New York Times reported that just this year there are 144 bills attacking ballot initiatives in 32 states.

They’re attacking us because they want to block change. They’d rather squash democracy than help those in need. It’s one of the worst attacks on our democracy I’ve ever seen.

We’re ready to fight back, but need your help to get it done.

Please, can you rush a contribution today to help us fight back and keep winning in the face of these anti-democratic attacks?

Here are just a few examples of just how outlandish these attacks are:

- Only letting folks collect signatures during the cold winter months
- Increasing the threshold to win ballot initiatives -- in Florida, you need 60% to win instead of a simple majority!
- Requiring signatures to be collected on petitions the size of beach towels… no joke!
- Increasing the number of signatures required to get on the ballot

We’ve been able to win real change in red states by going directly to the voters.

But now, after they’ve seen our wins, they’re changing the rules.

We’re going to keep fighting back, launching new ballot initiative campaigns, and organizing for real change -- because too many people still need health care or a raise. But we need you by our side.

Please, donate today to help us fight back against these cruel, anti-democratic attacks and help us win more campaigns to raise wages and expand health care.

Thanks so much, we’re so grateful for your support,

Jonathan Schleifer
Executive Director, The Fairness Project
