Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 16 | May 29th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear John, For the first time in more than a month, the Assembly Impeachment Investigation Committee finally reconvened and the results are appalling. Since last month, practically nothing has been done to advance the investigation into Cuomo's numerous crimes. Despite an additional 90 tips coming into the Cuomo corruption hotline (on top of the 200 previous ones), only 5 additional interviews have been conducted. It's disgraceful--snails move at a faster pace. I said it from day one--this "investigation" is nothing more than a sham committee designed to buy Cuomo time and protect his power. Meanwhile, taxpayers are being forced to cover the legal bills for this entire mess, totally hundreds of thousands of dollars. We already have extensive evidence detailing Cuomo's deadly nursing home coverup and serial sexual harassment. He is unfit to serve. It’s time to stop stalling and impeach the most corrupt governor in New York’s history. In national news, Joe Biden has unveiled one of the most reckless and wasteful spending plans in history, which would increase spending by $6 trillion and create $3 trillion in new taxes. It's time for the media to stop pretending Joe Biden is a moderate--this massive big government takeover will take America dangerously closer to socialism and mortgage our children's future. The middle class will be hit hardest by this extreme agenda and our Republican congressional delegation is fighting hard to stop it. We value all of your feedback and questions! Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! NYGOP Team Ask a Question! Question from Last Week: From Angela: Is it true that Joe Biden is proposing $3 trillion in new taxes? Between federal and state tax increases, New Yorkers are getting soaked. Answer: Angela, I couldn't agree more and unfortunately, it is true. Predictably, this is the result of one-Party rule in Washington and New York where we have witnessed Democrats' insatiable appetite to tax and spend us into oblivion. First, they used this virus as an excuse to ram through their big-ticket spending, which mostly amounted to their liberal wishlist and had nothing to do with covid relief. They were just getting started. Biden's tax hike and spending plan will have catastrophic results for our country. These policies are like a wet blanket on an economy that is already reeling from the shutdowns. The policies that gave us a booming economy prior to covid have been eradicated and replaced with a big government agenda that has already meant higher prices on essential household items and looming inflation. Americans have less money in their wallets and this is only just the beginning. That's why our 2022 elections will be essential to electing Republicans on the federal and state level who will reverse this damage and return us to strength and prosperity. Andrew Cuomo kept trying to swat the insect away, but the gnat – ‘er, chairman – kept at it. And as far as Cuomo was concerned, it was distracting from the good news he brought to Buffalo during one of those carefully scripted gubernatorial appearances – this one at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. ... Out on the airport sidewalk, however, Langworthy was buzzing about new reports that Cuomo made more than $5 million on the book he wrote about his Covid management experiences. As cameras and notebooks recorded him, the chairman kept stinging. How dare Cuomo profit off the deaths of 15,000 senior citizens forced last year by Cuomo’s orders into nursing homes, Langworthy fumed. Other governors handled the emergency without writing a book, he added. If the committee concludes that there is enough evidence against the governor, the next step would be impeachment. State Republican Party Chair Nick Langworthy, in a statement, accused the Assembly, which is led by Democrats, of stalling to shield the embattled Democratic governor. “There is already more than enough evidence to warrant Cuomo’s removal from office, yet the Assembly continues to dither and protect his power at the expense of New Yorkers.” Langworthy said. Read Full Here NY's Cuomo performs worse than generic Democrat in 2022 gubernatorial matchup vs. Republican Fox News A Siena College survey released Monday also indicates that a generic Democrat outperforms the three-term governor in a hypothetical 2022 gubernatorial matchup versus a Republican candidate. According to the survey, a generic Democratic candidate tops a generic GOP candidate in next year’s election for governor by a 55%-29% margin in the heavily blue state of New York. That’s far better than 48%-38% lead Cuomo has in the poll over a generic Republican challenger. Cuomo has also faced a chorus of calls to resign, with more than 135 state lawmakers and nearly the entire congressional delegation from New York – including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand – earlier this year urging Cuomo to step down. Read Full Here Fight to Hold Andrew Cuomo Accountable ‘Feels Like Upward Climb,’ Janice Dean Says Daily Signal Janice Dean began speaking out against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo when she saw that media outlets weren’t holding the Democratic governor accountable for what was happening in New York during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dean, senior meteorologist at Fox News Channel, lost both her mother-in-law and father-in-law to the disease in New York nursing homes. While thousands of elderly men and women were dying of COVID-19, Cuomo was “celebrating himself,” she says. The New York governor was “on CNN with his brother [anchor Chris Cuomo] joking around, while thousands of people were dying,” Dean says. “Body bags [were] literally piling up outside of nursing homes and storage facilities and storage trucks.” Read Full Here Assembly impeachment investigation into Cuomo moving slowly Spectrum News The impeachment investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo is proceeding, but investigators are in no rush. The Assembly Judiciary Committee provided its third update on where things stand with the investigation, which was launched almost three months ago. The public portion of the committee hearing lasted only around five minutes, before lawmakers went into a closed-door executive session. According to Assembly Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Lavine, the law firm leading the investigation Davis Polk & Wardwell have now spoken with the attorneys of at least 75 people and received about 290 tips on the impeachment hotline.
