The Fairness Project

Hi team,

Our team at The Fairness Project has won 20 ballot initiative campaigns since 2016, improving over 17 million lives by winning progressive change directly at the ballot box.

We’ve faced our fair share of attacks, but what we’re seeing now is unprecedented:

New York Times: Republicans Move to Limit a Grassroots Tradition of Direct Democracy

The New York Times reported that just this year, extremist politicians have “introduced 144 bills to restrict the ballot initiative processes in 32 states.”

Our successes have painted a target on our back.

They’ve seen us win ballot initiatives that raise wages and expand health care, so now they’re changing the rules and attacking democracy. They want to protect their special interest friends, while silencing the will of the people.

Can you chip in today to help us fight back against these partisan attacks and to help us keep winning ballot initiative campaigns for economic, racial, and gender justice?

Here’s what our team at The Fairness Project is doing in response to these desperate, anti-democratic attacks:

First, we’re going to keep planning, advising, and running ballot initiative campaigns to win real change in red and blue states across the country. We’ve launched a campaign to expand Medicaid in South Dakota next year, and we’re getting ready to launch more campaigns to raise wages, guarantee paid leave, curb predatory lending, and change lives in the months to come.

But we’re also ready to fight back against these attacks on voting rights.

We’re ready to fight back in courts, in the streets, in the media -- whatever it takes to protect democracy. Too much is at stake.

But we need your help in the face of these 144 bills attacking ballot initiatives -- can you rush a donation to help us fight back?

Thanks so much, we’re so grateful for your support,
