Today, the US Supreme Court heard major cases involving LGBTQ rights in the workplace. With the Court seemingly divided, a ruling that makes it clear that people can’t be fired because of sexual orientation or gender identity is far from certain.
Most states don’t have laws protecting employees from workplace discrimination due to sexual orientation or gender identity.
We have the chance in North Carolina to right these wrongs.
That’s why I’ve consistently supported a full repeal of HB2 and cosponsored the bill to make these forms of discrimination illegal.
No matter what our nation’s highest court decides, we can - and we will - fight back against discrimination in all its ugly forms.
