NBWA releases Beer Purchasers’ Index for September 2019

The index surveys beer distributors’ purchases across different segments and compares them to previous years. The total beer index rose to 58 for September, compared to 46 in September 2018. Flavored Malt Beverages and premium beers increased, while craft and ciders fell.

Kroger will exit e-cigarette business, citing questions, complexity

In a statement from a Kroger Co. spokesperson yesterday, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocery chain said it is getting out of the e-cigarette business due to “the mounting questions and increasingly-complex regulatory environment associated with these products.”

Vitale receives Mautino Industry Service Award

Adam G. Vitale, president of G&M Distributors Inc., was presented the Richard A. Mautino Industry Service Award on Sept. 15 at the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois 81st Annual Convention. The award is given for outstanding contributions to the beer distribution industry and is named in honor of the late vice president of Mautino Distributing Co.

State Liquor Authority eyes hefty fees charged by GrubHub, DoorDash and others

The New York State Liquor Authority on Monday weighed new rules that would cap the fees that food-delivery companies can charge at 10% of the cost of a takeout order. If profit exceeds that, deliverers would have to be listed as partners of establishments holding liquor licenses, according to the plan.
