Just hours after the Virginia GOP officially selected their nominee for the gubernatorial election this November, Donald Trump waded back into Virginia politics.
Since ours is just one of three states with a gubernatorial election this year, it’s unsurprising that Trump is attempting to influence the race from the sidelines. And that’s one reason why it’s so important that the people of Virginia make a clear statement that Trumpism has no place in our Commonwealth.
The GOP nominee, Glenn Youngkin, is a private-equity-executive turned right-wing culture warrior who has told Republicans that he’ll likely spend huge piles of his own money -- $75 million huge -- to try to purchase the Governor’s Mansion.
Whether it’s recovering from COVID-19, expanding affordable health care, or preventing gun violence, Virginia has made enormous strides forward in recent years. And on every issue, Youngkin has promised to reverse all the progress we’ve made.
Look, we cannot go backwards. So we're asking: Can you make a contribution of $10, $25, or whatever you can afford to support the Democratic Party of Virginia and send a message that Trumpism has no home in our Commonwealth? [[link removed]]
