John — you know what I find so frustrating?
I’m fed up with my colleagues in Congress who think the best we can do is uphold the status quo.
The status quo is that millions of Americans cannot afford health care, are drowning in student loan debt, and are becoming increasingly disenfranchised by Republican governors and Republican-led state legislatures who are hostile to our democracy, because they know they can’t win with their policy ideas.
We’re never going to solve big problems with piecemeal solutions. I’m fighting every day to pursue bold, progressive solutions to our society’s ills — but that could make me a target this election cycle, even within the Democratic Party.
If you can, please make a donation to my re-election campaign today to keep our progressive, people-powered movement going. [[link removed]]
When it comes to voting rights, the Senate must pass both the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act , which address different challenges to the integrity of our democracy.
Creating jobs and rebuilding our infrastructure are both critical components to building our economy back better than ever, but we will never bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots if we don’t address the student debt crisis. The president can revitalize the economy with the stroke of his pen by cancelling billions of dollars in federal student loans that are holding back millions of Americans from buying a home, starting a family, and saving for retirement.
Congress can play offense every time the 6-3 far-right supermajority on the Supreme Court threatens our fundamental human rights, but the most effective way to get to the heart of the matter is to expand the Court to save our democracy. From abortion and LGBTQ+ rights to the right to vote, everything we hold dear is at risk if we keep the status quo in our judicial system.
And we can do all of this while holding the perpetrators of the events of January 6th accountable, including the members of Congress who incited the violent insurrection. There is no chance for unity without accountability, no matter what excuses Republicans come up with.
I’m fired up and fighting for bold, progressive solutions, but I can’t keep up this fight without your help. Please make a donation to my re-election campaign today, because with redistricting looming, we don’t know what challenges lie ahead — but we must prepare now to overcome any obstacle that comes our way this cycle. Thank you for your continued support. It is the honor of my life to serve in Congress. I’ll never stop fighting to build an America where working people can thrive, not just survive.
Onward,
Mondaire
