Disney’s Raya and Last Dragon hits theaters and Disney+ this weekend. Currently sitting at 96-percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, the fantastical tale continues the house of mouse’s animated hot streak. The warrior-princess Raya is a great role model: resolute, focused, and fearless. She also happens to be Disney’s first Southeast Asian heroine. And star Kelly Marie Tran, who is best known for playing Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is excited for what that representation means. “It would have meant a lot to me as a little kid to see someone who not only looked like me but who also interacted with her friends the way I did,” she recently told Fatherly. “And to see her be the hero of her own story is a really important distinction as well."
