[link removed] [[link removed]]Dear ,
Our momentum is building! We’re proud to announce another big endorsement: This one is from Make the Road Action , one of New York’s most important groups by and for immigrants, 23,000 members strong.
This endorsement means so much. Make the Road brings people together to build collective power for immigrant communities and win transformative policies. Dianne is committed to co-creating a NYC for everyone who calls the city home; learn more about her policies to protect our immigrant neighbors here [[link removed]] .
[[link removed]]Here's what Theo Oshiro, Co-Executive Director of Make the Road Action , had to say about this exciting endorsement:
“Dianne Morales is an unapologetic progressive Afro-Latina leader with a long record of fighting for justice alongside our communities. Most recently she stood strongly with our members in the fight to fund excluded workers, including putting her body on the line and risking arrest. Dianne is committed to fighting for the respect and dignity of all New Yorkers.”
As an Afro-Latina daughter of parents from Puerto Rico, Dianne understands that immigrants make our city strong , and that no one should be excluded, regardless of their immigration status.
No one should have to live in fear of deportation or police harassment, either. Dianne will prohibit the NYPD and Department of Corrections from cooperating with ICE, including directing NYPD to refuse when ICE asks for help finding undocumented New Yorkers to deport. She'll also stop NYPD harassment of street vendors and other communities with strong immigrant representation.
And she'll work to include immigrants in the public life in New York. That looks like establishing a multi-language translator corps to make the city understandable to all — while ensuring more New Yorkers get well-paying, livable jobs. It also looks like expanding the right to vote in city elections to New Yorkers regardless of citizenship status.
We need a mayor who is committed to honoring the dignity of our immigrant neighbors. Chip in $21 today to help elect a mayor will do everything in her power to protect and respect those who help make our city great.
