It seems that Val Demings, to no one’s surprise, is making a lot of headlines this week. Yesterday, she announced her candidacy to challenge Marco Rubio for the Florida Senate seat. Today, she’s the clear winner of the poll we conducted, asking you who you were excited to see on the Democratic primary ballot.

We couldn’t be more thrilled for Val. She’s the daughter of a maid and a janitor who became the first Black woman police chief in Orlando. She supports responsible gun ownership and knows our justice system needs a major facelift.

Whoever represents Democrats on the ballot come the primary, we’ll be full-force behind them with a common purpose: to hold Marco Rubio accountable for years of taking advantage of hard-working Americans.

The people of Florida have a chance to flip this seat that Marco won by a hair. Let’s make sure we finish the job this time by chipping in here to retire him for good.
