On January 6, a violent mob incited by Donald Trump breached the U.S. Capitol while Jason and other members of Congress prepared to certify the results of the November election.

Unsurprisingly, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy continues to side with Donald Trump over finding the truth. McCarthy just announced he's opposed to a bipartisan agreement to form this commission. Republican leadership's attempts to downplay, excuse, and dismiss the January 6 attack and the need for an investigation are deeply troubling.

The attack on January 6 resulted from a months-long disinformation campaign by Trump and his allies and years of enabling by his inner circle. Despite being in the Capitol that day, some are ignoring the severity of the insurrection or simply acting like it never took place. Some are too scared to speak out.
