BREAKING: On Monday, the Supreme Court made the decision to hear a Mississippi abortion law that will directly challenge the landmark rulings of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

The case, which would ban abortions after 15 weeks, will be the first Supreme Court case on reproductive rights since conservative justices took a 6-3 majority in 2020, after Donald Trump hand-picked nominees based on their likelihood of overturning Roe v. Wade.

And now that Trump has packed the court with right-wing justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, reproductive rights are closer than ever to being revoked.

It's critical that we elect bold Democratic leaders who will stand up to right-wing attacks on reproductive freedom. Will you pitch in to support candidates who will protect a woman's right to choose? CHIP IN >>

In this year alone, more than 500 abortion restrictions have been introduced in state legislatures across the country. CBS News called this wave of state laws "a high-stakes showdown over the future of Roe v. Wade."

If these state abortion bans pass and make their way up to the conservative majority Supreme Court, it will have devasting consequences for women across the country.

And make no mistake: Low-income women, women of color, and women in rural areas are the ones who will bear the brunt of these egregious violations of human rights.

For rural women, barriers to abortion access can mean the difference between safe, timely terminations by a licensed physician — or having to travel hundreds of miles to receive appropriate care. These women are more likely to be low-income and often lack health insurance or necessary means of travel, leading to high rates of unsafe, self-induced abortions.

There are 6 states with only 1 abortion clinic — all red states, primarily in the rural regions of the midwest and south. We urgently need to break the stranglehold that conservatives have in rural America if we want any hope of saving Roe v. Wade.

The fate of reproductive justice is in the hands of GOP-controlled states and a conservative SCOTUS majority. DONATE NOW to help us flip seats blue all across rural America and elect Democratic leaders who will fight for reproductive justice >>
