Dear Fellow American,
Over 700 years ago, Dante Alighieri was exiled from his beloved Florence. Stripped of his property, he spent the rest of his life as a guest in foreign places.
While in exile, Dante wrote one of the very greatest epic poems, The Divine Comedy. Journeying through the three realms of the afterlife—Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise—he encounters old enemies and cherished friends, crooked politicians and great statesmen, infamous sinners, and holy saints.
The result is a profound education in character, as the poet learns how to order his soul to lead a free and happy life. And The Divine Comedy is a delight to read.
Hillsdale’s new online course on this timeless masterpiece is set to be released this month—and I am writing to ask your help in promoting it nationwide.
As you know, Hillsdale refuses to accept one penny of government funding—not even indirectly in the form of federal or state student grants or loans. All of our work—including our free online courses—depends entirely on the support of citizens who understand the importance of education to liberty.
We have set a goal to raise $300,000 by midnight on May 18, in order to promote “Dante’s Divine Comedy” and Hillsdale’s other educational outreach efforts. It’s an ambitious goal, but one I know we can reach with your help.
Please support Hillsdale's educational outreach on behalf of liberty by giving your best tax-deductible gift today at this secure link:
