Earlier this week, for the first time, the Senate Rules Committee held a hearing on the For The People Act, and Republican Senators made it abundantly clear that they don’t want to see this legislation pass.

Mitch McConnell said he opposed the bill — which would end right-wing gerrymandering of congressional districts and make it harder to suppress the right to vote — because “if you can write the rules, you can win the game.”

He conveniently left out the fact that Republicans in many states — including Georgia, Texas, and Florida — are actively working right now to rewrite the rules and rig elections in their favor.

The For The People Act will merely make our elections fair, not give either party an advantage — though it’s clear Republicans don’t believe they can win elections based on the merit of their own policies, which is a problem entirely of their own making.

Here’s a radical idea: maybe Republicans should try supporting policies that are popular with the American people. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Thank you for continuing to fight alongside me on this critical issue. We must keep up the pressure on the Senate to pass the For The People Act — even if it means getting rid of the filibuster.
