Much of our state is experiencing a dry season. In many regions the Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) is barely reaching half of its normal levels. This is reason to be concerned. It looks like some wet weather may be on its way, but we need to be prepared for a dry summer.

Our landmark early childhood education plan will provide Colorado with an opportunity to emerge from this pandemic stronger than ever by offering aide and support to parents & significantly bolstering our economic recovery. Expand access to early childhood opportunities. This policy will create the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, initiate a community-informed process to unify early childhood services, requires a plan to implement universal preschool statewide.

Rep. Donald Valdez’s Legislative Update

This month we saw a lot of our hard work pay off as legislators. Several of the bills I’ve been working on have recently been sent to the governor and and some have officially been signed into law! You can learn more about these bills by clicking on their titles below

HB21-1178: Correcting Errors in the Colorado Marijuana Code: This bill corrects non-substantive errors in the Colorado marijuana code.

HB21-1177: Add Use Tax Exemption To Some Sales Tax Exemption: This bill concerns the inclusion of use tax exemptions for certain existing sales tax exemptions in order to make the exemptions compatible with fundamental principles of sales and use tax.

HB21-1158: Special Fuel Farm Equipment Sales Use Tax: This bill creates non-substantive modifications to sales and use tax exemptions, and, in connection therewith, reorganizing sales and use tax exemptions for agriculture, livestock, and special fuels.

HB21-1147: Simplify Architects Continuing Education Requirement: The bill removes the material retention requirement that architects are subject to, allowing an architect to renew a license upon demonstrating compliance with the continuing education requirement alone, as do all other licensed professionals with continuing education requirements in Colorado.

HB21-1146: Auricular Acudetox Professional Practice: This bill clarifies that in order to perform auricular acudetox, a person does not need to be licensed, certified, or registered as a mental health professional.
