Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 14 | May 15th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear John, This week brought bad news for America with an abysmal jobs report as well as skyrocketing inflation and consumer prices. Meanwhile, the hacking of the colonial pipeline led to a national gas crisis with shortages across the eastern seaboard and drastic price increases. We are just over 100 days into the Biden-Harris administration and low and middle-income New Yorkers are already feeling the painful impacts of their radical agenda at every turn. Things are not any better here in New York, where Democrats are trying to ram through their own far-left green new deal that will hike gas taxes by another 55 cents per gallon and increase the cost of home heating oil. This is the price of a big socialist agenda--someone always has to pay and it always falls on the overburdened, hardworking taxpayers. Cuomo continues to be steeped in scandal for his deadly nursing home coverup and allegations of sexual harassment, but the legislature is still protecting him. I called their "impeachment investigation" a sham from day one, because I knew they wouldn't have the guts to cross him, despite overwhelming evidence of his numerous crimes. We just learned that this is costing taxpayers upwards of $250,000 to pay Cuomo-connected lawyers Speaker Heastie single-handedly hired to conduct this charade. This should infuriate every New Yorker and we will not rest until Cuomo is held accountable. This week we also saw an escalation of deadly rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists. The New York GOP is proud to reaffirm our strong and complete support for our Israeli allies who have every right to defend themselves from terrorism. We are reiterating our call on President Biden, Senator Schumer and New York's Democrat congressional delegation to forcefully and unequivocally condemn these attacks. We value all of your feedback and questions! Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! NYGOP Team Ask a Question! Question from Last Week: From Chris: The silence from Joe Biden, Andrew Cuomo, Chuck Schumer and so many Democrats on the attacks against Israel are deafening. What gives? Answer: This is a question that I believe many across the globe are asking. We went from having a President whose strong bond and commitment to Israel was made crystal clear from the get-go to a President who barely musters a weak press statement because he is afraid of the radical leftists in his Democrat Party. Hamas is a terrorist organization funded by Iran and their aggression against Israel is a clear test for America. We need a President who leads on the world stage and doesn't mince words about our support for our allies. The rise of anti-Israel sentiments and support for BDS movements within the Democrat Party both nationally and here in New York is unacceptable. Israel is our only true Middle Eastern ally and we must cherish and protect that relationship for our safety and theirs. National Police Week 'Thank You' Card Click Below to Sign! A huge congratulations to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik on her election as House Republican Conference Chairwoman. There is no one better suited for this critical role as we sight our sights on retaking the House Majority in next year’s midterms. Her ascension to leadership will be a tremendous asset for all New Yorkers who will have a powerful and influential voice in the halls of Congress. Statement from NYGOP Chairman Nick Langworthy Calling for Solidarity and Support for Israel “The deadly rocket attacks by Hamas on the people of Israel are acts of organized terrorism and cannot be tolerated. The Biden Administration and New York’s congressional delegation must unequivocally condemn these attacks on innocent civilians and voice their strong support for one of our nation’s longest and greatest allies, Israel. We stand in full solidarity with the people of Israel during this difficult time.” Meet Your New NYGOP Representatives! This week's featured newly elected official is: Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan! Follow on Social Media: Facebook Twitter NYGOP Must See News: Congresswoman Stefanik Represents the Future of the Republican Party Townhall Op-Ed by Chairman Nick Langworthy I’ve had the good fortune of knowing Representative Stefanik for several years now, along with having a front row seat to watching her grow from a first-time candidate for public office into the leader she is today. I can say with full confidence that she is exactly the person we need to help retake the Majority and grow our Republican Party. Stefanik’s meteoric rise as a Republican star on the national stage is driven purely by skill and mettle. It was of no surprise to those of us here in New York who know her best. But the media and the political pundits who are in overdrive to make this leadership fight solely about the 2020 election are living in the past. The rest of us are focusing on the future, which is exactly what Rep. Stefanik represents. The state GOP plans to meet next month to try to home in on one hopeful, avoiding a 2022 primary and starting the work that will be required to sell their nominee to voters and donors, party Chairman Nick Langworthy said. “Resources and assets are better employed running a general election campaign than an intramural for the Republican nomination,” Langworthy said. “There’s really great wind at our back.” Read Full Here Cost of left’s anti-anti-crime folly: 4-year-old shot in Times Square New York Post If someone hadn’t been so thoughtless as to put a toy store in Times Square, a toddler in a stroller might not have been shot there late Saturday afternoon, along with a tourist from Rhode Island and another visitor from New Jersey. The toddler and her parents had come over from Brooklyn for toy shopping; the Crossroads of the World is oh-so-tentatively beginning a post-pandemic recovery, you see, so why not? That’s when some moron from who knows where, beefing with other morons over whatever it is that morons beef about these days, pulls a .25-caliber pistol and opens fire. The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that the state Attorney General has broadened the probe into the Cuomo administration into whether a Cuomo advisor provided access to COVID vaccines in exchange for support for the governor. "I think like in Pataki in the '90s, things were getting really bad. And in, '09, when I ran for county executive, things were really bad. And we're going in a dark place right now in New York, quite frankly, there's so much division, it's unaffordable. Right now, there is lawlessness and crime on the rise. We've seen the failure of our schools and the shutdowns and leadership, lacking in Albany, and a radicalism, that's taking hold. So the losers and all that are the middle class," says Astorino. Read Full Here NY Senate GOP asks Cuomo to suspend state gas tax NY1 Senate Republican leaders penned a letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday, asking that he suspend New York’s gas tax after a ransomware attack forced one of the nation’s largest pipeline operators to shut down operations. The Colonial Pipeline, which runs from Texas to New Jersey, transports roughly 45 percent of the East Coast’s fuel supply, carrying 100 million gallons of fuel per day between Texas and New York. Over the last week, the national average for a regular gallon of gas has risen 6 cents, bringing the total to $2.96, according to AAA. The auto club says if that trend continues, it could bring the national average to $2.99, the priciest gas has been since November 2014. Read Full Here Ready to take back our state? Contribute today!
