"The U.S. Capitol Police identified about 200 members of the Proud Boys assembling on the morning of Jan. 6, but officials sent the department's intelligence resources elsewhere," POLITICO reports. The police were ordered to focus on the small group of Democratic anti-Trump demonstrators instead of the militant insurrectionists.
It is abundantly clear that what was initially reported as a protest that went out of control was actually much more sinister: The Jan. 6 insurrection was carefully planned by Proud Boys leaders, and they may have had help.
Law enforcement officials have revealed that a Proud Boys leader was in contact with Donald Trump's team just days before the insurrection.
But the GOP doesn't want the truth exposed. Lindsey Graham made the GOP plan clear: Anyone in the GOP who criticizes Trump will "wind up getting erased."
