In 2018, Jason took on a five-term Republican incumbent and became the first Democrat to ever hold the seat. Just over a year after being elected, Jason took on Donald Trump as an impeachment manager.
Jason was the only impeachment manager from a swing district. Pundits and politics insiders said it could ruin his chances at reelection. Jason didn't care. He always goes where the fight is.
Trump is out of office, but chaos and destruction continue in his wake. Even now, after insurrectionists attacked the Capitol over false election fraud claims, Republicans in Congress continue to side with Trump and spread dangerous conspiracy theories.
This week, the GOP voted to throw Liz Cheney out of their leadership because she had the courage to stand up and speak the truth.
Trump is out of the White House, but this week shows we can't be complacent. Republicans will do whatever it takes to stay in Trump's good graces and push his agenda. Meanwhile, our House majority is hanging on by a thread. If we lose members like Jason, it opens the door to more Trump loyalists in Congress, and it stops us from healing our country and making progress on critical issues.
Jason doesn't play political games. He is in Congress to do what's right, stand up against corruption, and protect our democracy. On January 6, Jason doubled down on that pledge.
National Republicans have their eyes on Jason, and you better believe they will do whatever it takes to get him out of Congress. We can't afford to lose Jason in Congress. He's exactly the kind of member we need as we work to heal our nation and our democracy.
