This week, the GOP House caucus voted to oust Rep. Liz Cheney from Congressional leadership. Her crime, according to her party?

That she told the truth. Liz Cheney has refused to bend to the GOP party line that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and has repeatedly spoken out against Trumpism and the impact the former president has on her party.

Rep. Cheney and I don’t agree on much, but on this, we’re in lockstep.

The forces that led to the insurrection in the U.S. Capitol on January 6th are still in our politics – and are in fact, resurgent. Donald Trump and his allies are still spreading the “Big Lie,” and that rhetoric is more than capable of sparking more violence in the future.

But most Republicans have chosen to look the other way, implicitly AND explicitly fanning the flames of misinformation to win back power.

We cannot let their strategy pay off. We must hold them accountable for this gross abdication of responsibility – and the best way to do that is at the ballot box.
