Dear John,
As we approach Yom Kippur and the end of the High Holidays, I’ve been thinking about my own commitment to welcome refugees and speak out for generous, fair and humane policies – a commitment that I know you share.
This shared commitment drives everything we do at HIAS – from providing refugees and asylum seekers with legal aid to leading critical resettlement programs to providing job and skills training. None of that work is possible without you.
That’s why today is such an incredibly important moment for you to step up to make your first gift. There are less than 24 hours left to DOUBLE your impact for refugees and help HIAS expand our life-changing work in the new year, and we’re so close to reaching our $150,000 match. Can I count on you to rush a donation and give our fundraising efforts the final push we need before our High Holidays match opportunity ends?
I am so incredibly proud of the work our teams are doing on behalf of women and girls who have survived gender-based violence, children and families seeking refuge at the U.S. border, and so many others fleeing persecution across the world. In the face of the administration’s unprecedented efforts to reduce the number of refugees allowed in the United States, this work will continue to be crucial in the days, weeks and months ahead.
As the urgent need for assistance grows, so must the scope of our work. We’re expanding our programs around the world, and we’re counting on your support to make that possible. Please, ahead of tonight’s crucial midnight deadline, we’re asking you to make your first gift of $18 or more to have every dollar MATCHED toward welcoming the stranger and protecting the refugee in the new year.
Your support means everything to all of us here at HIAS and to all those whose lives you’re helping us change. Thank you so much.
