Friends, last Saturday we launched the first events in our Organizing Everywhere tour -- and you can feel the momentum we’re building!

I spent all day in Madison and Mitchell Counties -- two of the reddest areas in our district -- listening to folks share their stories and connecting over our shared values.

But labelling them “red counties” doesn’t tell the whole story or the truth of what’s happening on the ground. Local organizers in these communities have been working tirelessly to turn out new voters and reach out to overlooked communities in every election cycle. Listening to folks, it was clear just how powerful and effective this work has been -- and how much potential we have if we keep it up.

We’ve said since day one, we’re running a different kind of campaign. Saturday’s success was thanks to an amazing crew of folks who planned and cooked for events, invited neighbors, and made sure everything ran smoothly. And then there’s Meghann, my incredible wife, who is stepping up in all kinds of ways to make it possible for me to run. This campaign is a family and community effort, through and through.

And now I can’t stop eating the giant tray of banana pudding that was packed up and sent back down the mountain with me.
