Last week, we were proud to announce our 2021 Electoral Reform Agenda — eight key reforms which, when taken together or individually, can improve our elections and thereby strengthen our power as citizens.

Stand Up Republic

Dear John,

In 2020, voters in key states such as Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota and Virginia exercised their power to make democracy better by voting to pass electoral reforms. But today, some states are launching a full frontal assault on voting rights. These undemocratic moves underscore how much work is still yet to be done if we are to reach our full democratic potential.

Since its inception, Stand Up Republic has led the charge to reform our electoral systems — and that work continues in 2021.

Last week, we were proud to announce our 2021 Electoral Reform Agenda — eight key reforms which, when taken together or individually, can improve our elections and strengthen our power as citizens.

Our goal with these reforms is to ensure better representation, elect unifying leaders, and allow easier access to voting for all American citizens. From innovative ideas to time-tested practices, these reforms will enhance the voice of all Americans. By working to advance these reforms, we are improving our government and reinforcing the bedrock of American democracy to ensure this great experiment in human freedom continues for years to come.

Over the coming months and years, Stand Up Republic and its state-level organizations will work in cooperation with other reform-minded organizations and citizens to advance these reforms. To borrow from Benjamin Franklin’s sage advice, it’s a republic — if we can keep it.
