Dear Friend, In a month, Alexandria voters will choose our Democratic nominee to be our next Mayor. Today, I am honored to announce the support of the 73rd Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Governor Ralph Northam! Our partnership with the Commonwealth has been absolutely critical during the past year, as every level of government worked closely to protect, test, support and ultimately vaccinate the residents of our City. We have worked closely with Governor Northam's administration to direct new state resources to our community for education, transportation, public health, sewer infrastructure and our historic resources. The Governor has not only supported Alexandria, but he has achieved an impressive collection of progressive victories. In his endorsement, Governor Northam stated: "Local government is where the policy rubber meets the road, and we need effective leaders like Justin there to implement policies and innovate solutions to the problems of everyday Virginians. Under Mayor Wilson’s leadership, Alexandria has consistently created a model for the entire Commonwealth. From COVID response to affordable housing coalitions to equitable transit, Justin has led on the issues most important to Virginians." Earlier this week, we announced the support of several Northern Virginia Labor organizations and last week we received the support of a coalition of community leaders. Ultimately, the endorsement I seek is that of the voters of our City. Already, 748 Alexandrians have cast their votes in our Democratic Primary.
