Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell know that Joe Manchin's opposition to the For the People Act allows their Republican allies across the country the time to put in place harmful voter discrimination laws that shut Democrats out from the ballot box. With those restrictions in place, they know that Democrats won't be able to defend their majorities in 2022 or keep the White House in 2024.

Democrats already face immense obstacles put in place by Mitch McConnell and his GOP lackeys, and now is not the time for members of our own caucus to stand in the way of our progressive agenda.
