I launched Policy is Personal PAC to build progressive power by electing more leaders who will pursue bold policy solutions in Washington. Today, I’m proud to share with you why I’m endorsing Melanie Stansbury in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District.

This is the seat that my friend, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, formerly held. We need to make sure that another strong progressive holds this seat — and I know Melanie is the person for the job.

The special election is June 1 and early voting has already begun, so we have no time to waste. Please split a donation between her campaign and Policy is Personal PAC today. Anything you can afford to give will immediately be put to use to help Melanie win.

Melanie is up against a self-funding millionaire Republican opponent who is trying to buy a Congressional seat. But like me, Melanie knows firsthand what it’s like to struggle to get by. She grew up in a working family in Albuquerque and has dealt with housing and food insecurity. She knows what it’s like to not have health insurance.

Melanie has dedicated her career to helping working people get ahead and stay ahead. In the New Mexico House of Representatives, she has been a leader in fighting climate change, alleviating hunger, and tackling the COVID pandemic.

If we’re going to send Melanie to Washington to join in our fight, and protect our majority in the House, we need to make sure her campaign has the resources it needs. Republicans are spending more money in the district than they have in years. We can’t let the GOP and their corporate special interest backers buy this seat.
