Hi friend,

I’m Jonathan, the executive director here at The Fairness Project.

Thanks so much for being a part of the progressive movement fighting for real change across our country. Today I’m excited to tell you about our work at The Fairness Project, how we break through politics as usual to win real change, and why we’d love to have you by our side in these fights.

In a minute, I’m going to ask you to complete our 2021 New Members Survey so we can learn a bit about you. But first, let me tell you about what we do at The Fairness Project.

Millions of Americans need real change -- now. Congress hasn’t raised the federal minimum wage since 2009. Too many people lack access to affordable health care, and out-of-touch politicians refuse to act. Countless families don’t have paid leave.

But over and over again, obstructionist politicians and corporate special interests block progress, putting petty political games over working people.

Real change is hard. The candidates we expect to win often fall short.

That’s where our team at The Fairness Project comes in. We launch, fund, and run ballot initiative campaigns that cut through the partisan noise and win real change in people’s lives. When politicians refuse to act, we get to work -- and we change lives.

It’s not a fantasy. Over the past five years, we’ve won 20 campaigns to raise the minimum wage, expand Medicaid, and enact permanent paid leave, changing the lives of nearly 18 million Americans.

In 2020, we won campaigns for Medicaid expansion in two deep-red states, Oklahoma and Missouri, delivering life-saving care for over 430,000 people. We also won paid family & medical leave in Colorado -- the first time that’s passed at the ballot box -- and ended abusive payday lending in Nebraska.

But we’re just getting started. We’re already hard at work planning campaigns in 2021, 2022, and beyond.

All this work is only possible because of grassroots supporters like you. It's going to take a movement of thousands of people fighting for progressive change to beat the special interests and fuel our campaigns -- and we're so excited to have you by our side. Now that you know a bit about us, we want to know about you:

Can you take just a couple of minutes and complete our 2021 New Members Survey so we can learn a little more about you and why you’re in this fight with us?

In just five years, our proven model of change has:

  • Put over $17 billion -- and counting! -- in the hands of workers thanks to our campaigns to raise wages;

  • Brought health care to nearly 1 million people by expanding Medicaid coverage to families who need it;

  • Delivered paid sick leave for over 3 million people and paid family & medical leave to over 2 million.

We’ve won 20 of our first 21 campaigns for economic, racial, and gender justice in red, purple, and blue states. And this year, we’re ready to win more.

Thanks so much, let’s get to work!
