Use the talking points and the creative assets ([link removed]) below to post on social media or write a letter to the editor about how the American Families plan will make a difference for you or the mothers in your life. Make sure to tag us @massdems!

* Last week, President Biden unveiled the American Families Plan to invest in our kids, our families, and our economic future--because when American families do well, our nation thrives.
* Historic inequalities mean child care and family responsibilities overwhelmingly fall on the shoulders of women. The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have pushed approximately two million women out of the workforce.
+ More than 30 years of progress has eroded and the US has fallen behind competing nations in women’s workforce participation.
+ A lack of family-friendly policies, such as affordable child care, universal preschool, or paid family and medical leave, women, especially mothers, without options.
* The American Rescue Plan supports mothers by investing in the foundations of middle-class prosperity: education, health care, and child care.
+ Universal high-quality, free Pre-K for 3- and 4- year-olds: In addition to providing critical benefits for children, preschool has also been shown to increase labor force participation among parents – especially women — boosting family earnings and driving economic growth.
+ Expanding tax credits that help families: The American Families Plan will Make the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit permanent and extend the Child Tax Credits increases in the American Rescue Plan for another five years. It will also extend expanded ACA premiums tax credits and invest $1 billion in maternal health.
+ Paid family and medical leave: The American families plan ensures that workers are able to take time to care for a new child or sick loved one, challenges that overwhelmingly prevent women from entering or returning to the labor force.
+ High-quality, affordable childcare for all: The high cost of child care continues to make it hard for parents – especially women — to work outside the home and provide for their families. President Biden’s American Families Plan will ensure no one earning under 150% of the state median income has to pay more than 7% of their income on high-quality care for children under 5.
* Alongside the American Families Plan, President Biden is proposing a tax reform agenda that rewards work – not wealth. The resulting revenue will pay for the American Families Plan investment in education and childcare, tax relief for American families, and reduction in child poverty.
* The American Families Plan is an ambitious, once-in-a-generation investment to rebuild the middle class and invest in America’s future--and ensure that women and mothers are able to rejoin and stay in the workforce, pursue long and meaningful careers, and provide economic security for themselves and their families.
